Frequently Asked Questions

Silk is nature's very own golden thread, spun by those little caterpillars called silkworms. It’s the finest, most luxurious fiber you can think of. It's soft, smooth, strong and has a beautiful natural luster. No wonder it has been so valuable for ages!

It actually has so many benefits that you’d be surprised. Here are some of the good reasons you should give it a try:

  • We all know a good night’s sleep can really make a huge difference in how you feel. Silk is ultra-soft and comfy. This means you’ll wake up feeling well-rested, refreshed and ready to take on the day stress-free.
  • Common cotton pillowcases usually cause hair tangling and breakage during sleeping due to friction they cause. In contrast, the smooth, slippy texture of silk minimizes friction that causes your hair to break and get frizzy. Your hair glides over it smoothly. So, you will no longer wake up to a pesky bed head or cushion face in the mornings.
  • Silk is good for your skin too. Unlike cotton, silk doesn't absorb your skin's natural moisture, thus it helps to keep your skin hydrated and prevents dryness on your face.
  • Silk is naturally hypoallergenic, so it is a great choice if you have sensitive skin or allergies.
  • Silk is naturally temperature-regulating, meaning it helps you stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
  • While there's no hard science to prove it, many believe that because silk is so smooth and reduces friction, it can help to reduce those lines and wrinkles on the face.

We offer different sizes to fit your favorite pillow. There's standard, queen and king sizes.

Cotton is the classic, comfy choice. It's soft, but it can suck up your skin's moisture and lead to dry skin and frizzy hair due to friction. Silk is the ultimate luxurious choice. It is smooth, durable, cool and super kind to your skin and hair. Satin feels smooth like silk, but it's usually made from synthetic fibers. It's a decent option for hair, but not as good for your skin as silk.

Ideally, you should wash your silk pillowcase once a week. This helps to keep it fresh, clean, and free from oils, sweat and dead skin cells that can accumulate over time. However, if you have particularly oily skin or allergies, you might want to wash it more often.

A silk sleep mask is a soft, eye-covering accessory worn during sleeping made from mulberry silk. It blocks out light and helps create a darker sleep environment and improves sleep quality in the end. The silk is very gentle on the skin, reducing friction and potential irritation. Many people find them comfortable and beneficial for relaxation.

The sleeping eye masks come with an elastic band behind them. Ensure the elastic band is comfortably positioned around your head. Gently place the silk eye mask over your eyes, make sure it completely blocks out light. The mask should feel secure but not tight.

Sleep masks are used to block out light to fall asleep faster and enjoy deeper, more restful sleep. A silk one will definitely be gentle on your skin. It is softer and provides a comfortable sleep experience. A silk sleep mask can also help reduce eye strain by creating a dark, relaxing environment for your eyes. This is especially helpful if you use electronic devices right before bed. Plus, silk is naturally temperature-regulating, so your mask won't feel too hot or too cold.

As with the silk pillowcases, we say hand wash is best. Fill a cup with lukewarm water and a gentle silk detergent. Submerge your mask and gently swish it around. Avoid wringing, though. After washing, gently press out the excess water. Avoid twisting or wringing as this can damage the silk fibers. Good news is that, Hevby silk is also machine washable. But use a delicate cycle, definitely cold water and a silk detergent again. Avoid using a dryer, as the heat can damage the silk. Lay your mask flat to dry and keep it away from direct sunlight.

We recommend washing your silk slip mask about once a week. However, this might change based on your skin type and how often you use it. If you have oily skin that is prone to acne, or if you wear it every night, you might need to wash it a bit more often. And of course, if it looks dirty, it's time for a clean.

Hevby’s Sleep Set includes a silk pillowcase, a silk sleep mask and a silk scrunchie, the perfect trio for a good night's sleep.

Wrap the slip silk scrunchie around your ponytail or twisted hair, but make sure it's comfortable and not too tight.
